Normally a birth is registering without name of the baby 1. you can enter the name within 12 months without any fees band after that with a fine of Rs 5 2.if a name is already entered in birth register, you can change it once before school admission(1st standard) 3.but after school admission, the name will be entered as per school record only 4.if you changed your name by Gazette notification, that name can be inserted as alias name 5. In the case of adopted child a new name can be substituted even if old one is existing .
My date of birth in passport and birth certificate is same, but in all other proofs(SSLC, +2, ug, PG, pancard, voter ID, bank accounts & in all the official proofs) it's as per my SSLC certificate. I did my higher studies in Madras university & anna university in Tamilnadu (My native is Kerala)and its impossible to change dob in degree and pg certificates. So I want to change my DOB in birth certificate as per my SSLC certificate. Pls guide me. I am in a big trouble because of this, pls pls show me some way.
The original DOB cant be corrected to a false one.
The process of correction is to rectify a wrong information. In your case ,you want to correct the right entry. sorry to say that it is not possible as per rules.
In my BC my name is spelled wrong. All other documents including SSLC have correct spelling. How can I correct my name in BC and how long it will take? Im planning to apply for passport. Plz help.

Hi Sreekumar, I want to change surname of my 9 yr old son in birth certificate as after divorce been given single custody.School records have same name as dob certificate as nowdays its compulsory for admission to submit the same.. can you please help
its a complicated question. as per kerala CR's circular, the birth certificate is being corrected only as per school records. The local registrar is helpless in this situation
Sreya You can 1)Change the name by gazette notification and add the new name (Correction will not allowed ) in the birth register as alias name 2)file a petition before the court for correcting the name in school register as mentioned in the gazette notification. if a favorable order is received ,the name in the school record can be corrected. then it is easy to correct the birth registration, by producing the school record
Hello My dob in passport, sslc book, adhar card and even the original dob certificate is matching but when i asked a new birth certificate i recieved a wrong dob, when i asked munisipality they said that they recieved it from hospital, i went to hosipital asked about it, they say that as per their record my dob is as in the new dob i received. Now my sslc, passport and adhar are same but not in the dob cert. How can i correct it?
it is clear that the DOB in SSLC, Adhar and Passport are wrong.please take steps to correct DOB in your SSLC book first.(Apply to the commissioner of Exams through the school in which you studied last. Then apply to the passport officer to correct the DOB in passport as per Birth Certificate. Correction in adhar can also be done later.

Hello, My sister's place of birth in the birth certificate is different from the sslc certificate and passport. Is there any way to change it? Thank you for your help
DOB IN ALL MY CERTIFICATES & PASSPORT IS SAME.I DO LIVE IN GULF. RECENTLY I HAVE COLLECTED MY BIRTH CERTIFICATE FROM MUNICIPALITY TO APPLY FOR JOB IN EUROPEAN COUNTRIES. DOB IN BIRTH CERTIFICATE IS DIFFERENT .EVEN MY IELTS CERT ALSO BASED ON OLD DOB & IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CHANGE IELTS CERT.IM FACING BIG TROUBLE.ANY SOLUTION TO CONTINUE WITH MY OLD BIRTH DATE AS PER IN ALL CERTIFICATES , PASSPORT & MY GULF DOCUMENTS.
This is a very common question and i am sad to say ,there is no a way to solve this problem. Really your birth certificate carries the original DOB and in other all records its recorded wrongly. in gulf countries its enough. but in western countries they consider even spelling. the only way is ,CORRECT the wrong DOB in all records other than BC even though it is uneasy
My son's name in the bc is as adharv kv where as in passport it is adharv kunnummal veetil. So is there any problem due to the mismatchibg in the surname ?
it is common and there is nothing irregular. if needed, you can add the expansion of initials in the BC as Adharv.K.V Alias Adharv kunnummal veetil OK?
Sir, Thank you for your replay..my son is 6 months old now..so what is the procedures to change the surname in the birth certificate in the case of children of age below 1 year?
So DOB in birth certificate can't be corrected and the correction needs to be done on other documents....which is time consuming and require dedicated efforts. Given that I live and work in Gulf.
I have downloaded the Hand Book on civil registration from https://cr.lsgkerala.gov.in/Content.php?id=B
Page: 86 last paragraph says
"The third aspect is that the Registrar shall not alter the original entry but shall make the correction in the margin and shall sign the same giving the data or correction. For example, if a date of birth is corrected, the original date as well as the corrected date will remain side by side on the registrar and any certified copy of the said entry will contain both the dates."
and further can be seen at Page:166 before last paragraph (66. Query)
I am not sure about the above context is applicable in my case.
in your case it is not possible. If the original entry in the register is wrong, it is rounding off and the real one is added in the margins.(Really there is no margins!) in your case the real entry cant he rounded off.
